How do I add a new phrase?
Tap the + button within any category to add a new phrase. Type the phrase using the on-screen keyboard, then tap Save. Adding custom phrases requires an active premium subscription.
How does head tracking work?
Speech Assistant AAC uses your iPhone’s TrueDepth camera (the same camera used for Face ID) to track head movements via ARKit. Enable head tracking in Settings → Head Tracking. Move your head to move the on-screen cursor, then hold still on a tile to select it (dwell selection).
Can I record my own voice for a phrase?
Yes! Open any phrase to edit it, then tap the Record button to record a personal voice clip. When that phrase is selected, your recording plays instead of the text-to-speech voice. Personal voice recording is a premium feature.
How do I add a custom image to a phrase tile?
Edit any phrase and tap the symbol/image area to open the image picker. Choose from built-in AAC symbols, SF Symbols, or pick a photo from your library. Custom images are a premium feature.
Will my phrases sync across my iPhone and Apple Watch?
Yes. Your phrases are stored in Firebase and sync across devices. The Apple Watch companion app shows your phrases for quick access on your wrist. Sign in with the same Apple ID on all devices.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, select Speech Assistant AAC, and tap "Cancel Subscription."
How do I delete my account and data?
Open the app → Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all associated phrases, categories, symbols, and recordings from our servers.

Troubleshooting
Head tracking cursor is jittery or inaccurate
Ensure you are in a well-lit environment. Try adjusting cursor sensitivity in Settings → Head Tracking → Sensitivity. Make sure the TrueDepth camera has an unobstructed view of your face.
Phrases are not syncing to my Apple Watch
Make sure your iPhone and Apple Watch are connected and that both have an active internet connection. Open the iPhone app and pull down to refresh. If the issue persists, sign out and sign back in on both devices.
Voice recording is not playing back
Check that your device is not in silent mode. In Settings → Audio, ensure "Prefer Recorded Voice" is enabled. Re-record the phrase if the recording appears corrupted.
The app asks for camera permission but I only want touch control
Camera permission is only required for head tracking. If you use touch control, you can deny camera access in iOS Settings → Speech Assistant AAC → Camera and the app will work fully with touch input.
